Stephen Selka, associate professor in American studies and in religious studies at Indiana University, will give a lecture at the College of the Holy Cross about the Sisterhood of Our Lady of the Good Death (Boa Morte) in Bahia, Brazil, and its week-long Feast of the Assumption. The festival is fascinating blend of Catholicism and Condomblé, an Afro-Brazilian religion.
Selka is author of Religion and the Politics of Ethnic Identity in Bahia, Brazil (2007, University Press of Florida).
The lecture will take place in Rehm Library, Smith Hall. It is free and open to the public.
